Columns and cards
What it does
A board is a row of columns. Each column header shows its title and a count of the cards in it.
A column can be mapped to a task status. Drag a card into a mapped column and the task takes that status.
A board starts with four mapped columns. New sets a task to Assigned, In Progress to In Progress, On Hold to On Hold and Done to Completed.
Add Column is the dashed panel at the right-hand end. It takes a Title and an optional Mapped Status.
Each column header has an actions menu with Sort by Priority, Edit, Remove All from Board and Delete. Beside it, Collapse column narrows the column to a strip showing its title and count. Drag a column’s title to move the whole column.
Cards get onto a board two ways. New task at the foot of a column opens a card that goes into that column. It takes a title. The card also takes an assignee, a due date, a priority and a parent record. On an org-wide board it asks for a team too. After a save, the card is ready for the next task.
Add Existing Tasks opens a search over tasks that are on no board. Search by title, T-number or tag.
The search box above the columns filters the cards in every column at once.
Before you start
A team leader and above can change any board, and a team’s manager can change that team’s boards. Only they see Add Column and the column actions menu, and only they can drag cards and columns. Editing and deleting a work board has the rest. Every member can use New task.
A card from New task needs a title. Pressing Enter with the title empty saves nothing, and the card shows “Give the task a title.” under it.
A column’s Title can be up to 100 characters, and a task title from New task up to 255.
A board takes twelve columns. At twelve, someone who can change the board sees “Maximum 12 columns reached.” in place of Add Column.
Add Existing Tasks is greyed out until the board has a column. Its tooltip says “Add a column first.”
Deleting a column moves its cards to the leftmost remaining column. Deleting the only column takes its cards off the board.
Remove All from Board takes every card in the column off the board. The tasks stay in your task list, and you can add them back. Both actions ask you to confirm.
Anyone can collapse a column. Everyone then sees it collapsed.
How to use it
- Open a board from Work Boards.
- Select Add Column, give it a Title, and choose a Mapped Status if the column stands for one.
- Select New task at the foot of a column, type a title and press Enter.
- Select Add Existing Tasks to bring tasks already in your list onto the board.
- Drag a card to another column or another position. Drag a column’s title to move the column.
- Open the column actions menu and choose Sort by Priority, Edit, Remove All from Board or Delete.
Dragging stops while the search box has text in it. A filtered column is not the order the cards are in.
Troubleshooting
Add Column and the column menus are missing, and a line above the columns says the teams you manage could not be loaded. Lucrii could not check whether you manage this board’s team, so it shows the board read-only.
A line above the columns says the teams for New task could not be loaded. Lucrii cannot read the teams New task offers on an org-wide board. Try again shortly.
